New photonic chip for '6G' wireless communications

LUX Faculty member Assoc Prof Ranjan Singh and his team at The Photonics Institute, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore have developed a new chip using a concept called Photonic Topological Insulators (PTI) that enable data transmission speeds that surpass the 5th Generation (5G) standards for telecommunications.

LUX Photonics Consortium was mentioned by DPM and Minister for Finance, Mr Heng Swee Keat during the Budget 2019 speech on Monday 18 FEB 2019. In his speech on “Skilled Workforce, Innovative Firms, and A Vibrant Economy”, Mr Heng touch on “Global-Asia Node of Technology, Innovation and Enterprise” where he mentioned his visit to LUX Photonics Consortium and met our members Technolite and Nanoveu.
